Brazilian Sport Club Crozon: Brazilian jiu-jitsu at the end of the peninsula

At the tip of Brittany, on the Crozon peninsula, Brazilian Sport Club solved a very concrete problem: before 2018, training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu meant driving more than 60 kilometres. Founded that year and affiliated with Infinity Fight Team, the club now has more than 75 members, 17 classes a week and three training halls across the peninsula.

It is also one of the clubs that run their day-to-day with OSS Academy: members, attendance, trial offers and family management all live on a single platform.

From mats on the beach to three halls on the peninsula

It all started in 2018 with grappling and krav maga taster sessions run at the local secondary school in Crozon. As summer approached, several students asked their instructors to keep training through the holidays. With no venue available, the first sessions took place on mats laid out on football pitches, and on the beach.

The association was formally set up in the 2018-2019 season: three time slots, in halls with no permanent mats, which had to be laid down and packed away for every single class. The club invited outside instructors early on, among them Laurence Fouillat-Cousin, today the club’s technical reference, and built ties with other Breton clubs.

Seven years on, Brazilian Sport Club runs three halls across the peninsula and 17 classes a week. The 60 kilometre drive is history.

For every age, and every ambition

That is the club’s motto, and it shows in the timetable. Programs run from toddlers and mini-kids up to teens and adults, with two kids groups split by age and a nogi slot. The 2026-2027 season adds two additions that say a lot about how open the club is: JJB-Santé, an adapted physical activity program, and Self-JJB, focused on self-defence.

There are more than 40 adults, and over a third of them are women. That is a rare ratio in French jiu-jitsu, driven by a women’s program led by Aurélie Navoret, the club’s president, a blue belt who works as a general practitioner and sports physician. Leading the teaching is Lionel Navoret, head coach and purple belt, a maths teacher in his other life.

French champions from an isolated corner

A club at the end of the road is not condemned to stay a hobby club. Brazilian Sport Club has produced French champions every year since 2022, and the 2026 season alone accounted for three of them, all women. Two of its members are European champions, including Lionel Navoret, who took the title at the 2026 IBJJF European Championships as a purple belt in Master 5.

The club also leans on a technical reference of the highest calibre: Laurence Fouillat-Cousin, a 4th degree black belt, the first European woman to earn a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and the 2007 IBJJF world champion, the first woman from outside Brazil to take the title. Invited to the club’s very first seminars, she now guides its technical progression.

What the club is proudest of, though, fits in one sentence from Aurélie: having managed to create, in an isolated area, a blend of Brazilian jiu-jitsu culture, family spirit, sporting ambition and openness to the outside world, while staying firmly attached to its peninsula.

How the club uses OSS Academy

Running 17 classes across three halls, with whole families signed up and competitors to track, calls for a real administrative backbone. That is the job Aurélie handed to OSS Academy.

Day to day, the club relies on the app for:

• Internal communication: information that flows between the board, the coaches and the members, without depending on messages that get lost
• A modern interface: a tool that is more efficient than managing everything by hand, and nicer for the members to use
• Keeping practitioners motivated: attendance and progress tracking, so everyone can see where they stand
• Trial offers: newcomers book their first class online, and the club finds them straight away among its members
• Family management: several members of the same family handled from a single account, which matters in a club with this many kids

Lionel Navoret, the head coach, also sees it as the end of a habit that goes back to the club’s founding:

“I’ve kept a spreadsheet since 2018, and I was looking for a way to improve attendance tracking. With the adults, I like to motivate the students by announcing the theme of the day: I’ll be able to do that directly in the app. This season I’ll also be able to share teaching content.”

And beyond the features, what Aurélie values is the support: a team that backs her up and listens to the club to keep improving the app.
