Bouguetaia Academy: sixteen years of BJJ in Nîmes, run with OSS Academy

In Nîmes, the BJJ section of the Fighting Club Nîmois Bouguetaia Academy has kept the mats alive since 2010. Sixteen years on, the numbers speak for themselves: 187 members, 9 instructors, 3 sections and 185 m² of mats, with 17 weekly sessions plus 2 private ones.

Sixteen years on the mats in Nîmes

Created in 2010, the BJJ section of Bouguetaia Academy grew up in the lineage of Luis Neto and Juarez Martins Nunes, before becoming independent in 2026. A school that has had the time to build a genuine fighting culture, from the ground up, and to shape several generations of practitioners in Nîmes.

At its head is Mohammed Hicham Bouguetaia, founder and president of the club and an IBJJF black belt 1st degree. He has carried the project from the start: making the club a real home, where kids and competitors alike find their place.

One club, three sections

Bouguetaia Academy is not just about Brazilian jiu-jitsu: the club runs 3 sections under one roof, led by 9 instructors. And the results follow, across several disciplines:

• Several French kickboxing champions, including Jade Bouguetaia
• Fadil Bertal, ranked 5th in France in pancrase in 2015
• BJJ trained in gi and no-gi, from kids to competitors

185 m² of mats

The club is built around a room with 185 m² of mat space, hosting the 17 weekly sessions and the 2 private slots of the week. On the walls, the flags are a reminder that the mats bring together practitioners from all backgrounds.
