In Besançon, Next Level Jiu Jitsu Besançon is one of those clubs that took a few years to find its final shape. Present in the city since September 2017, the section became a registered non-profit association in May 2025, affiliated with the Next Level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association (NLBJJA).
At the helm: Alpha Sankhor, president, head instructor, brown belt 3rd degree, and a software engineer in another life. A background that directly shaped how the club chose its management tool.

An association rebuilt in 2025
Seven years after its start in Besançon, the club went through several hardships before settling into a lasting structure. The current association, founded in May 2025, now carries a clear identity: a demanding style of practice, solid technical standards, and one simple goal, helping every member progress durably, from kids to adults.
The club now counts around fifty active members on 75 m² of mats, split into two sections: kids aged 5 to 13, and teens and adults from 14 up. Five weekly sessions structure the week: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in gi on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings for teens and adults, kids on Saturday morning, and a gi and no-gi open mat on Sunday.

Six coaches for fifty members
Around Alpha Sankhor, five assistant instructors run the classes, all purple belts. A tight coaching ratio, built so every member gets individual correction, whatever their level or age.
Alpha has practiced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2015. Brown belt 3rd degree, he carries both the club’s teaching direction and its day-to-day administration, a role that naturally led him to look closely at the tools available to BJJ academies.
Why Next Level Jiu Jitsu Besançon chose OSS Academy
Before discovering OSS Academy, Alpha was planning to build his own management app. As a software engineer, he was surprised to find most of the features he wanted to design himself already there, along with several future needs the OSS team had already anticipated.
The club relies on it first and foremost for:
- A centralized dashboard in the browser: a back office with nothing to install, for the club’s finances, people and training
- Member and subscription management: tracking different payment methods, no spreadsheet, no double entry
- Class creation and attendance and progression tracking: a schedule and history shared across the six coaches
- Notifications and belt-promotion tracking: so no rank change goes unnoticed, kids or adults
- Product, order and stock management: the club’s shop centralized alongside memberships
- Trial offers and the onboarding path for new practitioners: to structure how every new student gets started
Do you run a BJJ, grappling or combat sports academy? Create your academy on OSS Academy and focus on what matters: your students.
