In the Aisne department, between Tergnier and Saint-Quentin, Horizon Academy is one of those clubs that grew quietly before changing gear. Founded in 2018 and affiliated with CDK Team in Sevran and with the CFJJB, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu and grappling academy is opening a second gym this season and now runs classes Monday through Friday.

A 2018 club expanding to two cities
Horizon Academy was founded in 2018. Seven years later, the club has reached the size that makes the next step possible: this season it operates in two cities. Tergnier remains the original gym, with most of the classes, while Saint-Quentin hosts two adult sessions a week, in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and in grappling.
The result is a schedule that runs Monday to Friday: kids on Monday and Friday, adults every weeknight, a slot reserved for competitors on Wednesday, and two coached open mats at the start and end of the week. Sixty-one students go through it, from children to adults.
The club is affiliated with CDK Team in Sevran, Kamel Gharbi’s organisation, and with the CFJJB. That lineage is where the head coach’s rank comes from: Guillaume Boulet is a black belt under Kamel Gharbi, himself a black belt under Ludovic Deston.
Grit, technique, competition
Ask Guillaume what defines his club and the answer comes in three words: grit, technique and competition. It is not a slogan. It shapes the week, with a Wednesday evening slot reserved for competitors, in Brazilian jiu-jitsu as well as grappling.
Horizon Academy has built a genuine competition culture, with results across every circuit: regional and national championships, French Nationals, European Championships and international events. Among adults and among the youth categories, which is rarer for a club this size.
That standard has a logistical flip side. A club sending students to that many events needs an accurate calendar, needs to know who is entered where, and needs to track everyone’s attendance as the deadlines approach. That is precisely what pushed the club to equip itself.
The kids and the next generation
Two weekly slots in Tergnier are reserved for children: grappling on Monday and Brazilian jiu-jitsu on Friday. They are coached by Mehdi, a purple belt who also runs the club alongside Guillaume.
Here too, competition is part of the path. Horizon Academy’s young athletes compete on the national circuits and turn up at events such as the Challenge de Kodomo. For a club that claims grit as its identity, developing the next generation from childhood is the logical next step.

The page is included in the subscription, it picks up the club’s red, and it updates itself from whatever the club enters in the app. A class moved in the schedule shows up online right away, with nothing else to do.
